NOW OPEN TO SERVE CHILDREN AGES 2 TO 5!

Little Arrows Early Childhood Center is an new educational program to Vermont Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc. Little Arrows Early Childhood is set-up to serve deaf, hard of hearing and hearing children from age 2 to 5.

Our Early Childhood Education center is a year round program that is open 5 days a week. Our time sessions vary. The center provides full day and half-day sessions. Also, we provide before and after school care for the children in the program.

The program has a school setting environment and a curriculum implemented that will be taught by qualified teachers and staff. Our program focuses on creating a positive and nurturing environment where children can thrive and learn. We focus on the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of the child and encourage them to learn those skills through play. Providing them with hands on activities will help them acquire necessary skills at their own pace.

A Bilingual Communication approach is established at our center.  The communication mode, spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL), will provide the children with the skills to communicate with their deaf peers, their deaf parents/siblings and program staff. We encourage American Sign Language to be used in our facilities at all times since it is a visual language needed to communicate with the deaf population.

Our program strongly believes in creating a partnership with each child's parents. Communicating and involving parents in the child's learning process will help promote learning, not only at school, but at home as well.  Fostering a relationship with all the important stakeholders in the child's life will give the child a positive learning experience.

We are currently working on expanding our center to serve children under the age of 2 in the near future. We are looking forward to welcoming the little ones and their parents to our center!
