Preschool is a critical time for children to develop language and literacy skills, and this is especially true for Deaf
and Hard of Hearing children.Vermont Center understands that there are many factors for parents to consider when choosing a quality preschool for their child, including the schools overall educational philosophy, classroom environment, and teachers experience and qualifications. In the Austine @ Little Arrows Preschool program we provide an accessible communication environment to all children. Staff include Teachers of the Deaf and Early Childhood Educators. Our teachers use both American Sign Language and spoken English throughout the day to meet the individual needs of our students. All classrooms have age appropriate hearing peers to serve as spoken language models. Support services such as specialized speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, audiology and an array of Family Support services are available to meet each students unique needs. Our goal is for each student to develop age appropriate communication, language, cognitive and social skills.
