Student LifeStudent Life Coordinator Outside the classroom, you will find no lack of things to do. We at Austine School believe that life on our beautiful 175-acre wooded campus is a valuable part of the educational experience. Interscholastic and intramural sports, recreational activities, field trip opportunities and scholastic assistance contribute to Austine's quality Student Life program. The Department of Student Life offers a unique program, designed to guide and support the personal growth of each student. Students are assigned to residential advisors who facilitate their development into mature, independent young adults. The SPICE philosophy, focusing on Social, Physical, Intellectual, Communicative and Emotional development, is embraced within the residential program. Special assistance is provided for those students who require additional and more intensive training related to the acquisition of independent living skills. The Department of Student LIfe offers three types of programs. First is the boarding option in which students live in on-campus dormitories, from Monday afternoon until Friday morning, throughout the school year. Students living at a distance which prohibits daily transportation to and from school normally participate in this program. The second option permits students who are not dormitory residents to participate in the after school activities provided by the Department of Student Life. The third option is that of partial overnight residential participation. This option is typically chosen for students who are involved in interscholastic and/or extra-curricular activities that are held in the evening. The Coordinator of Student Life coordinates with contracted transportation providers, the transportation of students to and from school each week. |
